Kenneth Eugene "Coon" Hartzel

November 30, 1947 — July 17, 2025

Mechanicsburg

It is with a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my Dad, in my home. As I laid next to him, I told him it was okay to go onto heaven. Three breaths and he went peacefully to rejoice with the Lord in heaven, with his wife, Donna Jean (McKinney) Hartzell. Also joining his parents, Elmer Eugene and Ruth Naomi (Hall) Hartzell. He is survived by daughter (me), Amy Synnamyn "Sam"; my husband, Charles "Coons Boy" Sechrist; and his sister, Melanie Johnson.

He served in the US Military from 1966-1986 Vietnam War Era, earning National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and 5 Knots. He then worked for the US Post Office in Harmony, PA. Also enjoyed his part-time work with Advance Auto Parts and the Mission Barn, building handicap ramps.

He enjoyed a multitude of activities, riding motorcycles with American Legion Riders, A.B.A.T.E of PA, camping, fishing, hunting, Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, trips with his church, western movies, and sharing the words of God with others.

Donations can be made to: Leek Hunting Mountain Preserve Inc. 494 SR 244 East Oswayo, PA 16915
