Larry Allison Fahnestock, age 59, of Mechanicsburg, joined his wife in Heaven unexpectedly on Friday, March 29, 2019.  Larry was born on Wednesday, May 27, 1959 in Mechanicsburg to the late Harry Allison Fahnestock and Evelyn Marie (Bousum) Fahnestock.  Larry was the widower of Dr. Julienne “Julie” Lee (Ruth) Fahnestock, whom he married on January 23, 1999, and who died on December 8, 2013.

Larry’s survivors include his two brothers: Donald “Don” Fahnestock and his wife, Mona, of Shiremanstown, Ronald “Ron” Fahnestock and his wife, Marna, of Portland, OR; and his eight nieces and nephews: Christopher, Shawn, Salina, Donald, Jr., Crystal, Julie, Keri, Amy.

Larry graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1977 and from Cumberland Perry Vo-Tech for College Prep and Electronic Technology respectively.  He earned three associate’s degrees from the Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC).  With the encouragement of his wife, Julie, Larry returned to college at the age of 40 and graduated with magna cum laude from Shippensburg University.  He received a dual Bachelor’s of science in business administration (BSBA) in business education and management information systems (MIS) along with his Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in 2003 for Business, Computers, and Information Technology.  Larry subsequently earned his master of business administration (MBA) from Shippensburg University in 2006 and served as an adjunct professor.

He retired from Bermudian Springs School District in Adams County in 2015, where he served as a business education teacher and an advisor for the Future Business Leaders of America for 11 years.  He was awarded the Keystone Technology Integrator for his work with the “Classrooms for the Future” initiative.  Larry also held numerous technical and management positions with several employers throughout his life.  In his retirement, Larry worked as a tax specialist for his nephew, Donald Jr., at several of his H&R Block franchises.  Larry was a lifelong member of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church where he served as a youth acolyte, lay reader, and on the cemetery board.  He was an Eagle Scout with the former Troop 333 of Monroe Township and was a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.  Larry was a life member of the Mechanicsburg Club.  He was an active Freemason who rarely said, “no” when asked to help or serve.  Larry was a past Master, secretary, and trustee of the Eureka West Shore Lodge No. 302 F&AM.; and served several terms on the Masonic Hall Association and was the facilities coordinator.  He was the Lodge Mason of the Year in both 2011 and 2016.  Larry served as Worshipful Master over many Masonic funerals for the members of his lodge and was honored to offer that final farewell.

He was and an active member of Zembo Shrine.  He was also a past High Priest and trustee of the Samuel C. Perkins RAC No 209, a past Master of Good Samaritan Mark Lodge No. 139, a past Thrice Illustrious Master, and past recorder of St. John’s Council No. 5 and a member of Harrisburg Council No. 7 R&SM.  Larry was a three-time past Commander and a past Trustee of St. John’s Commandery No. 8 Knight Templar.  He was also a member of the Knight Preceptors and was awarded the Knight of the Triangle and Knight Commander of the Temple, a past President and past Recorder of the South Central Pennsylvania Past Commander’s Association.  Larry served one year as Pursuivent and one year as district deputy for the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masons of PA.  He was also a past Governor and Director of Work for First Capital York Rite College and an Associate Regent of the York Rite Sovereign College of the USA.

He was a past Illustrious Scribe for the Council of Anointed Kings of Pennsylvania, past Puissant Sovereign of Trinity Conclave Red Cross of Constantine, and a Past Eminent Prior of Penn Priory No. 6, Knight York Cross of Honor.  He also served as Sovereign Master of Rex Council No. 47 AMD, Excellent Chief of Erin Council No. 47 Knight Masons, and Master (Father Noah) of North Star Royal Ark Mariners No. 12.  He was also a member of Bryn Athyn Quarry of the Operatives and of the 6°, Susquehanna Court No. 74 Order of Athelstan, Jordan Chapel No. 12 and a charter member of St George Chapel No. 30 Order of St. Thomas Acon, Gallicantu Tabernacle No. LXXV Holy Royal Arch Knights Templar Priests, and Mayflower Conclave Pilgrim Preceptors.  Larry was also a member of The Royal Order of Scotland, the Valley of Harrisburg, AASR, Harrisburg Forest No, 43 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Pennsylvania Lodge of Research, the Philalethes Society, The Masonic Society, and The Grand College of Rites of the USA.  He enjoyed attending Masonic Week in Washington, D.C. He received other independent Masonic degrees and received other Masonic accolades.

All are welcome to join Larry’s family at his viewing on Thursday, April 4, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until time of Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. at Myers - Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  All are also welcome at join Larry’s family on Friday, April 5, 2019, for his viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and for his funeral service, which will begin at 11:15 a.m. at Trindle Spring Lutheran Church, 14 State Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050; with Pastor Aaron M. Erdley officiating.  Larry’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church immediately following the service.  Burial will follow the reception in St. John’s Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Dave Berkheimer, Dave Carr, Randy Ober, John Renshaw, Rick Rhan, and Paul Tutka.
