Lee was the widower of Carolyn J. (Sergent) Stare whom he married on June 2, 1963, and who died on October 2, 1998. In addition to his parents and wife, Lee is preceded in death by his two siblings: Roy Stare and Marilyn Stare; and his son-in-law, Mark Hennessy.
Lee’s survivors include his three children: Deborah “Debbie” Hennessy of Dillsburg, Cynthia “Cindy” (Stare) Karlin and her husband, Jim, of Lewisberry, Robert “Bob” Stare and his wife, Tara, of Dover; and his four grandchildren: Rachel Hennessy, Dylan Stare, Connor Hennessy, and Caroline Stare.
Lee graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1955. He served in the United States Army, and worked at the Naval Depot for several years later in life. Lee was a member of Immanuel Church in Mechanicsburg since 1986, where he was very involved for many years. Lee loved to work. He was a poultry farmer for 22 years before he served with the Naval Depot, and then he was employed by Dick’s Sporting Goods until the age of 80. He enjoyed the outdoors and could always be found doing any kind of yard work or planting flowers. A sports enthusiast, Lee was a fan of NASCAR, the San Francisco 49ers, and coaching his kid’s baseball teams. He was a nice guy with a great sense of humor who would help anyone in need. Lee will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
