Linda “Tex” Susan (Cornman) Shaffer
A Take Charge Kind of Lady -
Linda “Tex” Susan (Cornman) Shaffer, age 71, of New Bloomfield, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Linda was born on Wednesday, October 26, 1949, in Carlisle to the late Lee Earnest Cornman and Ruth Irene (Dunkleberger) Cornman. Linda was the widow of Raymond “Piney” Robert Shaffer, who died on September 20, 2014.
Linda’s survivors include two daughters: Alisa Jane (Fry) Elicker and husband, Jesse, of Dillsburg, and Danylle Susan (Fry) Minsker and husband Timothy, of Harrisburg; her granddaughters: Krista Elicker and Karla Elicker; her sister: Holly Lee Nitchman and husband Mark of Mechanicsburg; and her niece Shelby Nitchman.
Linda graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1967. She formerly worked as a teller for Dauphin Deposit, receptionist for the Perry County Courthouse, was an equipment operator at Penndot and as a school bus driver for West Perry and Cumberland Valley School Districts. It was during her time as a bus driver that she got the nickname “Tex” as she often wore a cowboy hat. Linda loved her pets; she had numerous horses, dogs and cats. Linda enjoyed being outdoors and in the barn caring for her horses. She would often take trail rides after work and on weekends. She enjoyed dressing up the horses and riding in local parades. Linda was a people person; very talkative – a social butterfly that loved interacting with others. She was a leader; a take charge person. Linda loved her family who will miss her very much.
