Lorraine Marie Motes, 67, of Harrisburg , died unexpectedly at home and surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 24, 2012.  She was born in Harrisburg, on Saturday, June 30, 1945, daughter of Winifred Motes Banks and the late Thomas W. Brown.

Lorraine retired as a CNA from Dauphin Manor in Harrisburg in July of 2006.  She loved watching sports, cooking shows and all of the shopping channels.  One of her favorite things was to call her daughter, Kenya, while watching these shows to discuss recipes or to order some new gadget.  Lorraine loved to cook and never passed up an opportunity to buy new cookware.  She enjoyed laughing until tears filled her eyes.  Lorraine had a passion for collecting angels.  She was a great protector of her family and watched over them like an angel.

Lorraine’s survivors include her loving children, Kenya Marie Motes of Harrisburg, Eugene Thomas Motes and his wife Tricia of Enola, Anthony Motes of Steelton, Thomas “Tommy” Butler of York, Kenneth Edward Motes of Harrisburg; two grandsons; six granddaughters; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.  Among those preceding Lorraine in death is her granddaughter, Chantel Marie Motes who died on March 19, 1995.

All are welcome to join Lorraine’s family at her visitation  on Saturday, September 1, 2012, from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Celebrant Mary Medkeff-Rose officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in William Howard Day Cemetery in Steelton.
