Listen to Obituary

Lynn Ellen Stought, 61, of Tafton passed away on September 2nd. Lynn was born on December 28th in Mechanicsburg to Sandra K. (Weigel) Irish and Larry Lee Stought. Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Larry, her mother, Sandy, and her (step) brother, Kirk.

Lynn is survived and missed by her sister, Diane Petrowski, her husband, Brian, both of Hawley, and her beloved niece, Breanne, of Columbus, Ohio. Lynn was raised in a loving blended family and will be forever remembered by her (step) parents, Loren and Donna Appleby, and (step) sister, Crystal Hoel, of Mechanicsburg as well as her (step) niece and 3 (step) nephews.

Lynn grew up in Churchtown and Mechanicsburg, graduating from Cumberland Valley in 1981. Her childhood was spent enjoying summer slumber parties, playing softball, taking bike rides on the back roads with siblings and visiting grandparents.

Lynn was a bank teller in New Jersey during her young adult years and discovered her love of bowling at that time- which she continued for years. She moved to Hawley, to devote more time to her niece and was a real estate book keeper for over twenty-five years.

Lynn was an avid sports fan. She loved the Yankees, Phillies, followed NASCAR, and looked forward to college basketball’s March Madness every year, but football was king. She was animated when watching the games, dressed the part of a true fan, and anyone watching with her had to choose their words carefully if it was “her” Dallas Cowboys on the screen.

Lynn’s hobbies included collecting sports memorabilia and various figurines- especially if they were cat related. She was a generous gift giver and had a knack for selecting something tailored to the personality of the recipient. Lynn’s spirit, sense of humor and laugh will be missed by all.

The family wishes any contributions in celebration of Lynn’s life can be made to Loving Care Cat Rescue, P.O. Box 153, Lemoyne, PA 17043, which serves five central Pennsylvania counties. Donate - Loving Care Cat Rescue.
