Maria Paz (Blazquez Sanchez) Tabor

Maria Paz Tabor, age 93, of Mechanicsburg, died at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 8, 2025.

Maria Paz Blazquez Sanchez, known as Mary, was born on Saturday, May 16, 1931, in Peñarandilla, Spain to the late Senen Sanchez Blazquez and Nicolasa Sanchez Barberro. Mary was the widow of Frederick Daniel Tabor, whom she married in 1969, and who died on April 1, 1988. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Lily Blazquez Sanchez.

Born and raised in Spain, Mary obtained an Associates Degree in Business Administration. Her husband worked for the US government and his postings took their family to many lands and countries before they settled in Mechanicsburg. Mary was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg for many years and volunteered at Meals on Wheels.

Family was the most important part of her life, both before and after she became a single mom to her two young sons, a stranger in a strange land, relishing to the end her rich Spanish culture. Besides her larger-than-life personality, Mary was known for her amazing culinary skills and wanted to bless family and friends with her meals whenever possible. She found fulfilment in connecting with others, with whom she would “pass good time”. She had a green thumb and enjoyed growing plants. Her knitting and crocheting skills resulted in beautiful baby clothes, tablecloths, and other family heirlooms.

Mary’s survivors include her two sons: Rick Tabor of Mechanicsburg and Andrew Tabor and his wife, Jacqueline of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; her four grandchildren: Frederick, Alexandra, Isabella, and Alicia; her brother, Gregorio Blazquez Sanchez; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary's family will be celebrating her life privately. Interment will take place at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
