Marion Evon (Trondson) Wetherell

Marion Evon (Trondson) Wetherell, age 87, of Mechanicsburg, PA, died on Saturday, March 30, 2024.  Marion was born on Monday, August 24, 1936, in Lakefield, MN to the late William “Bill” Reuben Trondson and Eleanor Ann (Schoone) Trondson. Marion was the widow of Joseph “Tex” A. Wetherell, whom she married in 1958, and who died on October 8, 2000.  In addition to her parents and husband, Marion is preceded in death by her son, John Spencer Wetherell.

Marion’s survivors include her two sisters: Darlene Trondson of Eagan, MN, Sheryl Trondson of Bloomington, MN; her sister-in-law, Victoria “Vicki” Roberson of Rockport, TX; a niece and nephew; and many cousins.  

Marion graduated from Lakefield High School in Minnesota as part of the class of 1954 and from Luther College in 1958.  She retired from after years of service as a teacher who always worked to enrich the lives of her students.  Marion was attended Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lemoyne, PA.  She was a member of the American Association of University Women.  Marion loved to play bridge.  She was a quilter and enjoyed sewing.  Marion was a talented musician, and played the trumpet and piano.   She had a passion for travelling.   Marion took many road trips, journeyed across the country to California, and toured Germany, Norway, and Iceland.  She will be dearly missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

All are welcome to join Marion’s family at her gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 12:30 p.m. until her celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with The Reverend George Scott officiating.  Marion’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.
