Mark Levi Ditmer, a cherished husband, son, and brother, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Born on June 20, 1970, in Mechanicsburg, Mark grew up surrounded by the warmth of his community and the love of his family.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Shannon Marie Ditmer; his mother, Daris Marie Ditmer; and his brother, Mike Ditmer. He was preceded in death by his father, David Allan Ditmer, who will undoubtedly welcome him with open arms.
Mark graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1989. Following his education, he dedicated his career to Bobby Rahal Toyota’s Parts Department, where he became a well-respected member of the team until his retirement. His commitment to those he worked with mirrored his dedication to his community.
A devoted member of the First Church of the Brethren-Carlisle for over 25 years, Mark made a significant impact through his unwavering support. He took on various roles, helping with janitorial duties and maintenance tasks, showcasing his willingness to lend a hand to those in need. His contributions were a testament to his kindhearted nature and desire to give back.
Mark was an avid traveler, having explored all 50 states and ventured through most of Europe and Australia. His love for adventure was matched only by his passion for nature, often spending hours in the great outdoors and capturing its beauty through photography. Those who knew Mark were often touched by his gentle spirit and his ability to connect with both people and animals alike—his love for his pet rabbits, whom he raised with care, spoke to the compassionate soul he was.
In addition to his many pursuits, Mark found joy in spending time with his family and friends, always ready to help others without hesitation. His bright personality and infectious smile could light up any room, drawing people towards him. Mark served as the mascot for the Harrisburg Senators for several years, where his vivacious spirit brought joy to countless fans. He also contributed to the Harrisburg Piranhas by assisting with their equipment, demonstrating his enthusiasm for sports and community engagement.
All are welcome to join Mark’s family at his viewing on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 10:30am until time of Service at 12:00 pm. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler will be officiating the service. Interment will follow the Service in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Mechanicsburg, PA.
