Mechanicsburg

Mary Angela (Denny) Trice, age 92, of Mechanicsburg, died on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Mary was born on Monday, February 5, 1934, in Johnstown to the late Charles and Agatha Denny. Mary was the widow of Joseph Thomas Trice, whom she married on August 24, 1957, and who died on March 19, 1987. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary is preceded in death by her two siblings: Ann Rizzo, and Anthony Taormina.

Mary's survivors include her four devoted children: David Trice and his wife, Wen of Chadds Ford, Mark Trice and his wife, Rebecca of Schwenksville, Monica Bender and her husband, Barry of Camp Hill, and Carin Socey and her husband, Richard of Mechanicsburg. Her legacy also lives on in her six beloved grandchildren—Nora, Emma, Alex, Angela (Juan), Kelly, and Sarah—who carry forward her spirit in their hearts. Mary’s family circle is further enriched by her two brothers, Sam Denny and Charles Denny, Jr., along with numerous nieces and nephews, whose lives were touched by her warmth and kindness.

A proud graduate of Johnstown High School’s class of 1951, Mary continued her academic journey by becoming a registered nurse. Her commitment to caregiving and service was an early hallmark of her character, reflecting a deep compassion that extended beyond her family into her community. Mary was also a devoted member of Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church for over 20 years.

Mary’s vibrant spirit flourished through her many passions. A gifted artist, she found joy and tranquility in oil painting, with a particular fondness for still life compositions that captured the subtle beauty of everyday objects. Her green thumb brought her equal happiness as she nurtured both flower beds and vegetable gardens—tomatoes were a special delight—showcasing her love for nature’s bounty. The fruits of her garden were masterfully transformed in her kitchen, through crafting exquisite Italian dishes, including pasta and calamari, her meals became treasured family favorites, a delicious legacy that will continue to be savored in memory.

Mary’s zest for life extended into her social endeavors and hobbies. She was an enthusiastic follower of Notre Dame College Football, famously attuned to the excitement and scores, even if the intricacies of the game eluded her understanding. She delighted in walking, exploring yard sales, and engaging with a wide circle of friends, embodying a spirit of conviviality that enriched every gathering. Mary's departure marks the passing of a remarkable woman whose eloquence of spirit, devotion to her family, and radiant joy in life’s simple pleasures will forever inspire those who knew her. Her memory remains a cherished treasure, a luminous presence that will continue to brighten the hearts of all who loved her.
