Always for the Children -

MaryEllen (Kepner) Christopher, 69, entered into heaven on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, surrounded by her family. She was born in Carlisle on Friday, November 6, 1942, the daughter of the late William Lee and Margaret (Feuchtenberger) Kepner. MaryEllen was married to Raymond Charles Christopher and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on November 10, 2012.

MaryEllen was a 1960 graduate of Boiling Springs High School . She was a lifelong member of First United Church of Christ, Carlisle, where she served in the nursery for many years. MaryEllen was most recently employed by Ross and Kohls , both in Carlisle. Her life centered around her family and her many friends. MaryEllen never missed any of the events in which her four grandchildren participated. Her first plane ride at the age of 58 was to Munich, Germany, and Amsterdam for a grandson’s soccer tournament. Even in the final days of her illness, she attended events for her grandchildren, all of whom she was extremely proud of and loved dearly.

Also in her final days, she spent much of her time on the phone, which was never far from her side, conversing and laughing with her many friends and family members. She often had her cell phone and home phone ringing at the same time.

MaryEllen’s survivors include her loving husband of almost 50 years, Raymond Charles Christopher, who doted on her til the very end; three loving children, William “Bill” Christopher and his wife Kimberly, of Mechanicsburg; Ann (Christopher) Petre and her husband Frank III, of Carlisle; and Angela Christopher of Carlisle; four grandchildren, Benjamin Christopher, Nicole Christopher, Megan Habeck, and Frank “Four” Petre IV; two sisters, Beverly Rynard and her husband Donald “Buck”; Doras Ann Morrison and her husband Scott; and a brother Robert Kepner and his wife Linda; a foster son Jeffrey Nelson; and several nieces and nephews.
