Michael Ray Bodle

Michael “Mike” Ray Bodle, 84, of Dover, Pennsylvania, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Bluffton, South Carolina; and Leesburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Born on October 16, 1941, in Washington, D.C., Mike was the son of the late Aubrey Cleo Bodle and Dorothy (Dale) Bodle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Bodle and David Bodle.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Cheryl “Sherry” Irma (Clements) Bodle. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and enduring love. He is also survived by his three children: Michele Amspacher and her husband, Damon, of York; Aaron Bodle and his wife, Jena, of Tampa, Florida; and Lisa Bodle of Mechanicsburg. Mike was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and a devoted great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous joy. He is also survived by his siblings, Wayne Bodle, Timothy Bodle, and Elizabeth Bodle, along with several nieces and nephews.

Mike graduated from Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School with the Class of 1959. Following graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. From 1961 to 1965, he served with distinction as a Marine assigned to guard HMX-1, providing security for Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. His service reflected the discipline, dedication, and patriotism that characterized his life. Mike remained proud of his Marine Corps service throughout his life and was an active member of the Marine Corps League. He was also a talented shooter on the pistol team.

Following his military service, Mike earned an associate degree from Harrisburg Area Community College and devoted himself to providing for his family and building a life grounded in hard work and integrity.

Mike was a man of faith. He was a believer and follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His family finds great comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Mike will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his faithful service to his country, his steadfast character, and the love he shared with those around him. His legacy lives on in the lives of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
