Michael "Mike" James Gray
Michael “Mike” James Gray, age 62, of Enola, and formerly of Dillsburg, passed away at home on Friday, July 1, 2022. Mike was born on Tuesday, August 18, 1959, in Harrisburg to Roxie Ann (Diller) Lent and the late James Albert Gray. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his step-father, John Lent.
Mike’s survivors include his wife of 21 years, Patti K. (Reed) Gray; his mother, Roxie Ann (Diller) Lent; his two sisters: Michelle J. Group and her husband, Brad, of Boiling Springs; Melinda J. Gray and her husband, Mahindra “Mel” Maharaj, of Madison, New Jersey; his niece, Mary; and his beloved canine companion, Sophie.
Mike graduated from Northern York High School as part of the class of 1977 and attended Slippery Rock University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree focusing on Social Studies. He worked at Fry Communications in Mechanicsburg since 1994, preforming various jobs. Most recently, Mike held a management position in the Human Relations department. Mike was a proud Eagle Scout and enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors. He used the skills that he learned in Scouting, throughout his life. Mike loved his daily walks with his loving canine companion, Sophie, was an avid reader and also spent time writing poetry. He was affectionately called “Toad” by his childhood friends; a nickname that he received from his father. Mike was a devoted son, husband and big brother. He will be greatly missed.
All are welcome to join Mike’s family at his service on Saturday, July 9, 2022 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Matthews United Church of Christ, 3240 Spring Road, Carlisle, PA 17013; with Reverend Dr. Timothy P. Dugan officiating. Mike’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at his church immediately following the service. Cremation was private.
