Michael H. Oyler, of Camp Hill, PA, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2026, surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle against multiple cancers.
Born in Harrisburg, PA, on August 11, 1956, Mike dedicated 42 years of his professional life to IBM, where he served as a Senior Program Manager with U.S. Part Sales Operations and Warranty Operations. His career was a source of great pride.
Baseball was Mike's favorite sport growing up, and his love of sports stayed with him over the years. A high school athlete himself, he remained a diehard Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Mike also spent decades involved in girls' softball, coaching his daughters and their teams and giving his time to the Mechanicsburg Girls Softball Association, where he served as President. He loved fishing along the Yellow Breeches, was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to music and riding motorcycles. He also took great pride in smoking meat, considering himself quite the pitmaster. Mike liked playing poker, darts, and Golden Tee, and he never turned down an opportunity to prove he was the best at any of them.
Mike is survived by his wife, Cathy (Curtis) Oyler of Mechanicsburg; his two daughters, Megan (Oyler) Moffett of Hershey, PA, and Kaitlin (Oyler) Cicchetti and her husband, John, of Chantilly, VA; and his five grandchildren, Peyton, Cameron, and Maryn Moffett, and Grace and Kira Cicchetti. He will be missed by his family, who will carry with them the memories of the years they shared.
Family and friends are invited to join Mike’s family for his gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home in Mechanicsburg. Following the service, everyone is welcome to attend a luncheon at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, located next to the funeral home. Burial will follow the luncheon at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.
