Parke Theodore Martin Jr., a man whose life was marked by quiet passions and steadfast dedication, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2026, in Camp Hill at the age of 82. Parke was born on Wednesday, January 26, 1944, in Harrisburg to the late Parke Theodore Martin, Sr. and Evelyn Thelma (Hoffman) Martin. Parke was the widower of Linda Kay (Sanders) Martin, who died on October 4, 2018. In addition to his parents and wife, Parke was preceded in death by his three siblings: Raymond Martin, Gertrude Deitman, and Betty Harner; and his devoted canine companion: Molly.
Parke’s survivors include his daughter: Lisa Rabert, and her fiancé, Jeff Burfield; his two grandchildren, Curtis Rabert and Michaela Rabert; and his siblings, Shirley Price and Herbert Martin; and his faithful canine companion: Sandy.
A consummate professional, Parke devoted many years to the HVAC industry, where he distinguished himself as a wholesale manager. His commitment to excellence and integrity in his career earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike, underscoring a work ethic that was both earnest and unwavering.
Yet, beyond his professional life, it was the small, delicate joys that truly illustrated Parke’s character. A devoted enthusiast of the natural world, he harbored a special fondness for blue birds, their gentle presence reflecting the tranquility he sought in life. Corn on the cob was among his simple pleasures, a humble delight that spoke to his appreciation for the earth’s offerings.
Craftsmanship was another facet of his personality; Parke possessed the rare skill of making pens from wood, a meticulous art that mirrored his patience and creativity. Fishing was both a passion and a competitive pursuit, with Bass fishing tournaments providing arenas where his skill and determination could flourish. The rhythmic notes of bluegrass music were frequently the soundtrack of his days, echoing the rustic and heartfelt cadence he so loved. He cherished the experience of camping, which he shared with his wife, Linda, and grandson, Curtis. Myrtle Beach was the couple's preferred destination, and a local campground in Chambersburg was a favorite spot that they enjoyed with Curtis. For Parke, camping was a sanctuary that brought joy, particularly around a crackling campfire.
As we reflect upon Parke Theodore Martin Jr.’s life, we honor a man whose passions were as varied as they were genuine—a tender soul who found beauty in nature, creativity in craftsmanship, and joy in family and fellowship. His legacy is one of grace, kindness, and an enduring love for the simple wonders of life, forever etched into the fabric of those who knew him.
