Paul Hoffman

Paul Hoffman, age 86, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of New York City, NY and North Hempstead, NY, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2022.  Paul was born on Wednesday, March 11, 1936, in New York, NY to the late Paul H. Hoffman and Mira (Bystoy) Hoffman.  Paul was the widower of Sigrid Hildegard (Weller) Hoffman, whom he married on April 21, 1972, and who died on November 9, 2014.

Paul’s survivors include his cousin, Virginia Stanton of Rochester, NY, and many church and neighborhood friends.

Paul grew up in New Hyde Park, Long Island, NY and graduated from Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades.  He attended the City College of New York, RCA Institute and also served in the United States Navy from 1954-1957.  He served aboard the USNS David C. Shanks (T-AP-180), a troop transport, and in December of 1954, crossed the 180th Meridian, as known as the International Date Line.  He spent majority of his working life in the computer industry as a programmer.  In 2002, Paul moved to Pennsylvania and became an active member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist of Harrisburg.  His quiet, friendly and loving demeanor reflected church values.  Paul loved to play tennis and watch the competitions on television.  He also enjoyed woodworking and swimming.  Serene and humble, Paul was a good man.  He will be deeply missed.

All are welcome to join Paul’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Friday, November 18, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:30 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.  Cremation was private.
