Paul Edward Shellehamer

Paul Edward Shellehamer, age 93, of Carlisle, and formerly of Camp Hill died on Saturday, December 16, 2023.  Paul was born on Monday, March 3, 1930, in Camp Hill to the late William Cornelius Shellehamer and Mary Elizabeth (Flickinger) Shellehamer.  Paul was the widower of Louise Marie (Bowen) Shellehamer, whom he married on October 3, 1953, and who died on May 30, 2018.  In addition to his parents and wife, Paul is preceded in death by his 11 siblings.

Paul’s survivors include his three daughters: Patti Lou Smith and her husband, Gary, of Holtwood, Donna Marie Asper and her husband, Allan, of Etters, Joan Elizabeth Horst and her husband Laverne “Bernie”, of Dillsburg; his 11 grandchildren, his 20 great-grandchildren, and his sister, Miriam Wise.

Paul graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1949.  He was a proud Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict.  Paul retired from C.S. Willis + Sons Feed Mill in 1996 after almost 50 years of service.  He was a lifelong member of Shiremanstown United Methodist Church, where he helped build the Rec. Center and was a significant church office volunteer.  Paul was very active and had a passion for baseball.  He played Twilight League Baseball for Lisburn, and rarely missed listening to the games of his favorite team: The Philadelphia Phillies.  Paul was a long-time league bowler.  He enjoyed being outdoors, and was an avid hunter and vegetable gardener.  Paul will be dearly missed by those fortunate enough to have known him.

All are welcome to join Paul’s family at his visitation on Saturday, December 23, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Matthew Asper officiating.  Paul’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Burial will follow the reception in Slate Hill Cemetery, 1352 Slate Hill Road in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Matthew Asper, Joshua Asper, Timothy Horst, Phillip Horst, Stephen Smith, Brandon Smith, and Kiernan Smith.
