Loved to Dance

Phyllis Mary (Hill) Greensmith, 83, of Enola and formerly of Canada and London, England died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Holy Spirit Hospital.  She was born on Wednesday, March 7, 1928 in Branford, Canada the daughter of the late John and Rose Maud (Ramus) Hill.  Phyllis was the widow of Arthur Stanley Greensmith  who she married on September 10, 1960.

Phyllis had an amazing strength and was a very determined woman.  She was born in Canada and her parents died within one week of one another.  She and her four sisters took a ship back to England where they were split up and she was placed in an orphanage.  Phyllis’ aunt took her in during WW II until their house was bombed and her aunt passed away.  Again she was placed in an orphanage and spent time there and in foster homes until the age of sixteen.  A few years later she fled London for Canada and met Arthur her soon to be husband who could really dance.  Phyllis was quite a dancer herself having won several medals and awards.  After almost dying during childbirth Phyllis and her family immigrated to the United States and lived in many different states including Minnesota, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Phyllis’s survivors include her loving daughters: Gail Lauren Greensmith and her husband Eugene Tarlucci of Wayne, NJ; Caroline Greensmith of Enola; two sisters: Doris Seeley of Canada, Thelma Bowing of England and several nieces and nephews.

Services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
