Ralph Edward Reed, Sr., age 87, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Duncannon, died on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Ralph was born on Sunday, July 10, 1938, in Danville to the late Jacob Reed and Margaret (Troxell) Reed. In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by his sister: Charlotte Stone.
Ralph’s survivors include his wife of 33 years, E. Marie (Weckworth) Reed; his two sons: Jeffrey Reed and wife Jennifer, of Florida, Ralph Reed, Jr. of Marlin, TX; his six stepchildren: Ronald Kutz and wife Lynne, of Waco, TX, John Kutz of Spring Hill, TN, Jane Lambert of Ladysmith, Quebec, Patricia VanderMeulen and husband Andy, of Iroquois, Ontario, Lynn Lambert of Gatineau, Quebec, Kathleen Henderson and husband James, of Williamstown, Ontario; his many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; his two siblings: John Reed and wife Mary, of Dillsburg, Dorothy Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph attended Duncannon High School. His career was defined by his military service in the Navy, followed by many years of working in supplies at Fort Indiantown Gap, and enjoyed hobbies such as fishing and hunting. He was also an avid traveler, having visited Alaska three times, and a fan of college football, particularly Penn State.
All are welcome to join Ralph’s family at his viewing on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George Spangler officiating. Ralph’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Burial will follow the reception in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.
