Loving Wife & Mother -

Rebecca Lynn (Madden) Melvin, age 40, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020, as the result of a single car accident.  Rebecca was born on Monday, May 19, 1980, in Carlisle to Wayne Madden and Nancy (Robinson) Madden.  She is preceded in death by her infant brother, Jason Madden; her maternal grandparents who were a big part of her life, Ruth “Mimi” and Lee “Pap” Robinson; her father-in-law, Cecil Melvin; and her four canine companions that greeted Rebecca over the Rainbow Bridge: Haly, Daisy, Lelo, and Gypsy.

Rebecca’s survivors include her husband, Gregory “Greg” Scott Melvin, of whom she was with for 23 years and married for 16; her son, Nicholas “Nick” Melvin and girlfriend Carol Molina of Mechanicsburg; her parents, Wayne and Nancy Madden; her mother-in-law, Carol Melvin of Mechanicsburg; and her two beloved canine companions: Lexi and Zoe.

Rebecca was a loyal and dedicated employee of Weis Markets for 20 years and was currently serving as a produce manager.  She began working for the supermarket about a year after the birth of her son, Nick.  Rebecca cared deeply about her work and Weis; both coworkers and customers alike loved her.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Mechanicsburg American Legion Post #109 and Lower Allen VFW Post 7530.  Rebecca liked to read and go to the beach and collect seashells, particularly at the Outer Banks.  She also loved to go hiking on the Appalachian Trail with her friend, Mary and the dogs. Another favorite pastime was camping and four wheeling in Tower City.  Cooking was another passion of Rebecca’s and everyone said she was a great cook, a skill learned from Cecil and Carol.  Christmas was her favorite holiday; Rebecca loved to decorate and always wore her Santa hat at work.  Her family was very important and she enjoyed being a part of a large extended one.

All are welcome to join Rebecca’s family at her gathering of family and friends and kindly ask that you contact her family for the service information.  Cremation was private.
