Richard “Dick” Joseph Williams, age 79, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 6, 2020.  Dick was born on Friday, November 15, 1940, in Scranton to the late George A. Williams and Marie (Cronin) Williams.  Dick was the widower of Mary Lou (Sinback) Williams, whom he married on November 25, 1967, and who died on June 21, 2018.

Dick’s survivors include his two daughters: Michele Williams of Mechanicsburg, Kristin Williams of Bethesda, MD; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Williams of Scranton; and his beloved feline companions: Mr. Ed and Mr. Hobbs.

Dick graduated from Central High School in Scranton as part of the class of 1958 and from Scranton University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  In 1994, he retired from the Department of the Navy, Fleet Material Support Office in Mechanicsburg, after over 32 years of federal government service.  Dick enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, and catching a baseball game, especially if the Philadelphia Phillies were playing.  He was a very good and loyal friend, and most of all, Dick was deeply committed to his family.

Dick’s family may have a future public celebration of his life, as circumstances allow. Services will be announced once scheduled.  Cremation was private.

The family will not be accepting flowers; instead they invite those who wish to celebrate Dick’s life to make donations in his name to the Joseph T.
