Robert “Bob” Francis McCreary, Sr., age 75, of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully while being comforted by his loving family on Sunday, August 16, 2020.  Bob was born on Saturday, September 16, 1944, in New Paris to the late Foster Francis McCreary and Ruth Ann (Fisher) McCreary.  In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Albert McCreary.

Bob’s survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sally Louise (McConnell) McCreary; his two sons: Robert Francis McCreary, Jr. and his fiancée, Wendy Sierer, of Mechanicsburg, Patrick Thomas McCreary and his wife, Jan, of York Haven; his six grandchildren: Ashlie, Christopher, Thomas, Amanda, Dakota and Gabrielle; his five step-grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his three step-great-grandchildren; his several nieces and nephews; and his beloved African gray parrot: Pepper.

Bob graduated from Chestnut Ridge High School as part of the class of 1964.  He retired from Claremont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Carlisle after many years of service working as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Bob used his medical skills as an EMT for several ambulance and fire companies in both here and in Bedford County.  During the spring and summer months, Bob could be found gardening and tending to his tomato plants.  In the winter and spring, Bob was off to his favorite hunting spot and fishing hole.  Bob was a terrific cook and enjoyed making many delicious meals for his family.  His family will miss the many pans of scrapple that he made for them.  Bob was also a collector of many things.  He collected aluminum cans that he would recycle, pens, and recipes.  Bob loved to shop and was a master at “getting a deal”.  Most of all Bob loved his family and doted on his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  They were his heartbeat and he will be missed by all.

All are welcome to gather with Bob’s family for his graveside service on Thursday, August 20, 2020, at 2:45 p.m with service beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Tri County Memorial Gardens, 740 Wyndamere Road, Lewisberry, PA 17339; with Celebrant George A.
