Robert “Bob” David Harper, age 77, of Mechanicsburg, PA, died at UPMC West Shore Hospital on Thursday, June 22, 2023.  Bob was born on Sunday, April 28, 1946, in New Brighton, PA, to the late Paul William Harper and Elsie Caroline (Spohn) Harper.

Bob’s survivors include his wife of 48 years, Margene Nita (Spahr) Harper; his two children: Donna Zeigler and her husband, Travis, of Mechanicsburg; Keith Harper of Mechanicsburg; his two grandchildren: Andrew Zeigler and Tori Zeigler; his three brothers; his two sisters; and his precious dog, Lulu, and his two precious cats: Punkin and KitKat.

Bob was a fierce Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, Penguins and Penn State Football fan.  He loved his teams and never missed an opportunity to root them on.  Bob earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn State Main Campus and his Masters of Business Administration Degree from Shippensburg University.  He retired from the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg after 30 years of service as a systems analyst. Earlier in his life he enjoyed golf and would play frequently.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg, American Legion Post 109 in Mechanicsburg, the Mechanicsburg Club, and West Shore Elks Lodge 2257 in Camp Hill. He also served in the United States Army.  Bob loved to travel and was especially proud of having visited most of the Hawaiian Islands.  He so enjoyed sushi of all kinds and eating it with his daughter, Donna.  Bob was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and he loved and cherished his wife, children, son-in-law and grandchildren.  He will be forever missed.

All are welcome to join Bob’s family at his celebration of life open house and gathering of family and friends on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory).  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.  Cremation was private.
