Robert “Butch” Eugene Buhrman, age 79, of Harrisburg, died at home and surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 20, 2023.  Butch was born on Thursday, November 11, 1943, in Harrisburg to the late Robert A. Buhrman and Elsie V. (Beers) Buhrman.  In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his siblings: William Buhrman and Marjorie McCrone.

Butch’s survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Helen (Watts) Buhrman; his 3 children: Sherri L. Marsicano of Harrisburg, PA; Amy L. Brabrand and her significant other, Kevin Barron, of West Point, VA; Adam P. Buhrman and his wife, Lisa, of Etters, PA; his 8 grandchildren: Zachary Buhrman; Cameron Beyrent; Taylor Beyrent-Hunder, and her husband, Allen; Bailey Marsicano and her significant other, Damien Bowen; Private Jerome Anthony Marsicano and his partner, Hailey Nichols; Sydney M. Marsicano; Peyton J. Brabrand; Noah C. Buhrman; his great-grandson: Matteo Alen Hunder; and his beloved Yorkshire Terrier: Billy.

Robert’s family and friends called him “Butch.”  His family said “Butch was also known as Bob, Robert, Dad and Pappy.

Butch and Mary were married on May 30th 1964 and treasured their 59 years together.  Butch and Mary have 3 children: Sheri, Amy and Adam Butch was a loving and dedicated father, but the apple of his eye was his 8 grandchildren and great-grand child.

Butch was passionate about his faith in the lord and dedicated his time to supporting his churches.  Butch was a 20+ year member, Deacon, Elder and President of the Council at Camp Hill Church of God.  For the past 10 years, He was a participant at Turning Point Church in Mechanicsburg.  Additionally, Butch volunteered for the Men’s Softball League, VBS, Sunday school teacher, March for Jesus, Feed My Starving Children and feeding the homeless of Harrisburg.

Butch served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and retired after 31 years as an Environmental Engineer for the Department of Environmental Resources.

Throughout his life, Butch enjoyed his time supporting his community and family.  Butch volunteered as a Fire Fighter for the Borough of Paxtang, couching for the Camp Hill Girl’s Softball League, and supporting the Camp Hill Swim & Diving team with various fund raising event.

Butch and Mary enjoyed a fruitful life.  Throughout the years, they traveled extensively to see the world and enjoyed countless family vacations. Family was always Butch’s primary focus, which was demonstrated by attending their extra curricular activities and supporting their interest and talents however needed.

Butch’s personal passions were attending Camp Hill Football games, watching the Philadelphia Eagles, Drum and Bugle Corp performances, watching the West Point Pointers Marching Band, embracing American History and listening to classic 80’s music.

All are welcome to join Butch’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor George A. Spangler officiating.  Butch’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Cremation was private.
