Sandra “Sandy” Elaine (Short) Amsbaugh

Cherished Her Grandchildren -

Sandra “Sandy” Elaine (Short) Amsbaugh, age 77, of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with the Lord at home on Monday, February 3, 2020. Sandy was born on Sunday, December 6, 1942 in Harrisburg to the late Raymond Leroy Short and June Isabelle (Hoffmaster) Short.  Sandy was the widow of George Ivan Amsbaugh, whom she married on September 25, 1964, and who died on May 1, 2016.  In addition to her parents and husband, Sandy is preceded in death by her brother, Donald E. Short; and her step daughter, Connie Louise Smith.

Sandy’s survivors include her three children: Jeffrey “Jeff” Scott Amsbaugh and his wife, Joanna, of Enola, Lynda Gail Paulus and her husband, Allen, of Sorrento, LA, Shirlene Miller and her husband, David, of Mechanicsburg; her seven grandchildren; her six great-grandchildren; her sister, Treva Short of Mechanicsburg; her niece; her nephew; and her beloved feline companion, Katie.

Sandy graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1961.  She retired from Rite Aid in Mechanicsburg, where she worked as a clerk.  Sandy was a long-time member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God in Dillsburg.  She enjoyed solving word searches, completing puzzles, and recently developed an interest in diamond art.  Sandy’s family will miss the cooking and baking that she did for all of them.  Her house was the place to be for holiday meals; Sandy made sure that no one in her family went hungry.  She welcomed her grandchildren into her home often and cherished the time that she spent caring for them.

All are welcome to join Sandy’s family at her memorial service on Saturday, February 29, 2020, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Church of God, 146 South York Road, Dillsburg, PA 17019; with Pastor Zack Wilt officiating.  Sandy’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship her the church immediately following the service. Cremation was private.
