Vonda Rae (Womer) Sterner Fike

Vonda Rae (Womer) Sterner Fike, 86, of Enola went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 27, 2025. She was born on August 17, 1938 to the late D. Ray Womer and Alverda (Wise) Womer of New Bloomfield, PA.

Vonda Rae was a graduate of Perry Joint High School in New Bloomfield and Maryland Medical Secretarial School in Hagerstown, MD. She retired as a Special Claims Examiner from Capital Blue Cross.

On July 10, 1960, she married Franklin R. Sterner and together they raised four sons. Franklin passed away on December 10, 1995 after a battle with cancer. On September 24, 2005, she married Ernest B. Fike. They made their home in Berlin, PA of Somerset County, until Ernest passed away on August 22, 2009. In addition to her two husbands, she is preceded in death by her son, David Sterner who passed away on July 10, 2015.

Vonda Rae was a former member of Abundant Life Christian Center in Berlin, PA and a former member of Knotty Knotters Club of Retired Seniors Volunteer Program of Somerset County, and a former member of Enola Sportsman's Club Auxiliary. She was a member of the Family Worship Center in New Kingston, where she served at Mission Director and assisted with the Carlisle Truck Stop Ministry.

Vonda Rae is survived by three sons: Frank R. Sterner II of Carlisle; John Sterner and his wife, Teresa, of Bloomsburg; Carl Sterner and his wife, Katelynn, of Camp Hill; her five grandchildren: Christopher, Roseanna, Katheryn, Thaddeus, Mackenzie; her daughter-in-law, Jane Sterner of Newburg; her brother, David Womer and wife, Charlene, of Downingtown; and her four nieces, three great nieces and two great nephews.

All are welcome to join Vonda Rae’s family at her viewing on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastors George Jensen and Gary Zigner officiating. Vonda Rae's family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service. Burial will follow the reception, at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Mechanicsburg.
