Wanda Gail (Witmer) Etnoyer, age 65, of New Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, after a battle with breast cancer.  Wanda was born on Thursday, October 11, 1956, in Lebanon to the late Elvin Wilbur Witmer and Christine Ruth (Wolfe) Witmer.

Wanda’s survivors include her husband of 47 years, William Lester Etnoyer, Jr.; her daughter, Kerri Lynn Nelson and her husband, Justin, of Summerville, South Carolina; her son, Daniel William Etnoyer and his wife, Melissa, of Snow Hill, Maryland; her four grandchildren: Brooke, Paige, Haley, Mason; her three siblings: Ken Witmer, Gary Witmer, Sandy Lehman; and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.  Wanda will be remembered by her love and devotion to those around her.  Her smile and passion for having fun was unwavering throughout her courageous 13 year battle against cancer.  Wanda often said that her best “medicine” was her four grandchildren, and they were undoubtedly the biggest motivator in continuing her fight.

Her family and friends started a Relay for Life team, the Pink Ladies, to support Wanda in her fight against cancer.  She cherished the time with her family and friends at the fundraisers and events.  Wanda’s competitiveness, a trait she always denied having, would become apparent each year as she cheered us on to get spirit beads, win each contest, and raise more money than the years prior.

Wanda loved shopping and giving gifts to others.  Throughout the last 13 years, she never missed a Black Friday shopping trip with the girls or an opportunity to give to others.  Wanda is now the recipient of the greatest gift of all, being embraced in the arms of our Heavenly Father.  Although we will all miss her texts that we had to decipher, we can rest easy knowing that she is in heaven reunited with her mom and dad, winning every game of scrabble, and continuing to cheer on those who are enduring the fight against cancer.

All are welcome to join Wanda’s family at her viewing on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating.  A graveside service and burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Ken Witmer, Gary Witmer, Clint Etnoyer, Greg Etnoyer, Daniel Etnoyer and Justin Nelson.  Wanda’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the burial.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to everyone at Homeland at Home Hospice who so lovingly cared for Wanda during her illness.
