We are deeply saddened to share the news that Warren left us unexpectedly on the morning of May 28, 2025. He was 39 years old.
Warren had a kind and compassionate heart. He loved his family and his friends, and he was deeply loyal to them. He also cherished his many pets.
Very early in his life Warren developed a passion for the arts - particularly photography, film, and sound. From childhood, he showed a precocious talent for digital media, which led him to a career in technology. Later in life, he specialized in video production, computer programming, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. Warren was extremely bright and sensitive, and he had a profound ability to understand anything in both abstract and concrete terms.
Warren attended the Janus School for several years, then graduated from Cumberland Valley High School in 2003. He went on to attend Ithaca College, transferred to the University of Pittsburgh, and then transferred again to Penn State University - where he earned his undergraduate degree. In October of 2024, Warren defended his thesis, thereby earning a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Penn State. Not only did he do this while working full time and raising children, but he was the first in his family to earn a graduate degree.
While attending Pitt, Warren became an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Panthers basketball team.
Warren excelled at photography. He spent many years perfecting his ability to capture beautiful still portraits and action images. Music was another of his passions, and Warren enjoyed all genres of it. As a teen, he was involved with several local Christian rock bands. Later, in his college years and early twenties, Warren played the drums and bass guitar with various musical groups.
Warren had a close relationship with his siblings. He and his two brothers, Kevin and Grant, relished the times the three of them sat together, smoking cigars, drinking bourbon, and trying to solve the world’s problems. He and his sister, Porsha, shared a love of the silliest jokes, bad puns, over-thinking things, and their pets.
Warren adored his children, and they were always at the forefront of his focus. He looked forward to his daughter’s softball games, which he always attended and made an effort to photograph for posterity. He would often tell stories of some amazing feat that she had accomplished on the softball field, or about the funny things his son said to him. His children were the most important part of his life.
Warren always cared about others, and he was always available to help at a moment’s notice. He was well-known for his generosity and compassion. He had a unique outlook on life. Being a sensitive soul, there were many things that upset him about the world, but he could always see an upside or a solution. Those who knew Warren will miss him deeply. They will miss his thoughtfulness, his razor-sharp wit, and his unique sense of humor. Warren was, truly, “A man for all seasons. A man of an angel’s wit and singular learning.”
Warren is survived by his parents Thomas and Louisa Gaughen; his partner Tiffany Constine; his children; his brothers Kevin (Laryssa), and Grant (Jodie); his sister Porsha (Sean), and his many nieces and nephews.
