William "Bill" Tracy Johnson

Mechanicsburg

William “Bill” Tracy Johnson, age 77, of Mechanicsburg, a devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, PA.  Bill was born on September 28, 1946, in Carlisle, PA, to the late Frank Wesley Johnson and Kathryn Lillian (Smith) Johnson.  In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his three older brothers and two older sisters.  He is also preceded in death by his beloved son, William Tracy Johnson II.  Bill is now at peace and reunited with Billy in Heaven.

 

Bill’s survivors include his loving wife, Mona Jane (Sheesley) Johnson of Mechanicsburg; his daughter, Danielle (Johnson) Bingaman and her husband, Jay, of Mechanicsburg; his twin granddaughters: Lauren and Morgan Bingaman of Mechanicsburg; and his many nieces and nephews.

 

He is part of the class of 1965 at Indiana Area Senior High School where he met Mona.  They recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.  Bill served in the Army Reserves and was employed at Eberly Lumber Company for many years until he retired.

 

Bill was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, enjoyed coaching Pee Wee football for the Mechanicsburg Chiefs and Teener baseball for Mechanicsburg.  He remains close to many of those friends today.  Bill was also a lifetime member of the Mechanicsburg Club.  He adored his granddaughters and loved watching them in all of their activities.  Bill was quick-witted and loved to make people smile.  He will be greatly missed.

 

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral & Cremation, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA. 17055.  A memorial service celebrating Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, starting at 10:30 a.m. at Shiremanstown United Methodist Church, 125 East Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011.  Pittsburgh Steeler fans are welcome to wear their favorite black and gold attire to the memorial service.  Burial in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be private and at the family’s convenience.

 

While Bill’s family will not be accepting flowers, Bill and Mona request contributions in celebration of Bill’s life be made to benefit his grandchildren’s education.  Scholarship contributions should be made payable to Jay and Danielle Bingaman and mailed to Shiremanstown United Methodist Church.  Donations can also be made to Hands and Feet Ministry at Shiremanstown United Methodist Church.  Donations of any amount are welcome and greatly appreciated.
