William “Bill” Moodie Gardiner

A Handsome Scotsman -

William “Bill” Moodie Gardiner, 80, of Mechanicsburg, PA (USA) and formerly of Scotland died on Friday, September 9, 2011 at home and in the presence of his loving wife, Freda. He was born on Saturday, December 6, 1930 in Dunbarton, Scotland the son of the late Lachlan M. and Sarah (Moodie) Gardiner. Bill married the English girl from the bank, who he fancied, Freda (Davis) Gardiner, on April 20, 1974.

Bill was a “handsome man.” He was active, likeable and fun loving. Bill liked golf, tennis and traveling. He was fit and never stopped taking care of himself and his health. His faith was rooted in the Episcopalian Church. Bill was proud to have served in both the Scottish Army as a bagpiper in the Black Watch and as part of a weather balloon team in the US Army. He was a tin smith and retired after many years in the heating and cooling business.

Among those surviving Bill are his loving wife of 37 years: Freda (Davis) Gardiner of Mechanicsburg, PA; his son: James “Jimmy” S. Gardiner of Vienna, VA; and his granddaughter: Caroline Gardiner of Vienna, VA.

All services in Bill’s memory and honor will be celebrated privately and at the convenience of the family. Bill will find final and eternal rest at home in Scotland.
