A Loving Family Man -

Andrew “Andy” Jackson Ort, age 83, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022.  Andy was born on Tuesday, August 16, 1938, in Lewistown to the late Harry M. Ort and Sarah G. (Hummel) Ort.  In addition to his parents, Andy is preceded in death by his three brothers: Lawrence Ort, Bill Ort, and Bob Ort; and his four sisters: Jane Hinderliter, Dorothy Davis, Mary Hackenberger, and Freda Miller.

Andy’s survivors include his wife of 61 years, Peggy Raye (Hinderliter) Ort; his three children: Sherri Filipovich and husband, Dennis, of Carlisle, Michael “Mike” Ort of Carlisle, David Ort of Mechanicsburg; his grandson, Ryan Wolf of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews.

Andy was employed as a carpenter for 40 years with Regent Construction Company in Mechanicsburg until the owner’s retirement.  He then began working for Russell Goodling Construction until his own retirement.  Andy loved watching the old black and white western movies and TV shows.  He enjoyed spending time with his granddogs: Buddy and Ryder.  Andy also liked watching NASCAR and in his younger years, enjoyed bowling.  Andy will be remembered as a loving family man and for his easy-going and gentle spirit.

All are welcome to join Andy’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.  Andy’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots.  Interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.  Cremation will be private.
