Beatrice (Hall) Conrad

Beatrice Conrad of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, passed away at the age of 89 in her home on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, after a sudden illness. She was born on June 3, 1930, to the late Thomas Lee Hall and Mae Haggar (Jones) Hall.

Beatrice, affectionately called “Bea” by her family, attended William Penn Senior High School. She then married and moved to Queens, New York, where she lived for the next 40 years.  She loved cooking for her family, shopping, theater going, traveling, interior design and music.  Singing was one of her favorite pastimes which she did expertly.

She was employed by the State of New York as a healthcare professional in the mental health field for 23 years.  After retiring in 1991, she moved back home to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to be closer to her family.

Beatrice was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1961 at the International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Orchard Beach, Bronx, New York.  As a member of the Edgemont Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, she found great joy in speaking to others about her faith, spending many hours throughout her lifetime volunteering to teach the Bible and its message to all who would listen.  The most important thing in her life was her relationship with her Creator, Jehovah God, and making sure everyone she met knew about the hope He holds out to us all in the future.  She shared her hope with family members, including her parents, brothers and sisters, and other close family members.

In addition to her parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by her brothers: Charles Isaiah Hall and Thomas Hall; her sisters: Gertrude Murph, Lucretia (Pat) Gladden and Maureen Hall.

She is survived by her sister, Delores Taylor, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, her daughters: Rene A. Ayat and Cynthia T. Harner; her four granddaughters: Donna Goins, Celina Lewis, Tanisha Waller and Sharon Lake; along with six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.  Beatrice also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly and who will cherish their fond memories of her.

Beatrice’s immediate services will be private with a memorial service to be held through Zoom at a date to be announced.  Cremation was private.

Beatrice’s family has entrusted her care to Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory in Mechanicsburg, (717) 766-3421.  Read Beatrice’s full obituary, view her memorial photograph, and sign her official guest book at Buhrig.com.
