Charles “Charley” Birney Burditt

Kindhearted and Compassionate -

Charles “Charley” Birney Burditt, age 65, of Carlisle, and formerly of Lewiston, NY, passed away with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.  Charley was born on Sunday, February 5, 1956, in Briarcliff Manor, NY to the late William Franklin Burditt and Esther Grace (Tipping) Burditt.  In addition to his, Charley is preceded in death by his two beloved Chihuahuas: Chalupa and Donald.

Charley’s survivors include his wife of almost 32 years, Donna Marie (McCartney) Burditt; his daughter, Marie Burditt and significant other, Christopher Henry, of Marysville; his brother, Gordon Burditt of Texas; his sister, Gwen Purcell and husband, Tim, of Edgewater, MD; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Shorty the Chihuahua.

Charley graduated from Lewiston-Porter High School in Youngstown, NY as part of the class of 1974.  In 2011, he retired from Cresline Plastic Pipe Co., Inc. in Mechanicsburg, after 37 years of service working as a quality control inspector.  Charley was a former member of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church.  He was a member of Boiling Springs Memorial VFW Post 8851 and American Legion Post 26.  In his younger years, Charley liked to go out riding on his motorcycles.  He loved the snow and also enjoyed spending time with his Chihuahuas and collecting coins.  One of Charley’s favorite things to do was go to yard sales and flea markets with his daughter, Marie.  He was a kindhearted and compassionate man with a nice sense of humor.  Everyone who met Charley are going to miss those special things about him.

All are welcome to join Charley’s family at his viewing on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421.  Charley’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (next to Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory), immediately after the viewing.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of our parking lots.  A graveside service will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens in Carlisle; with Celebrant Patti Vogl officiating.
