Charles “Ike” Russell Reeder
Quite a Character –
Charles “Ike” Russell Reeder, age 87, of Carlisle, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home and surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Ike was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1934, in Mechanicsburg to the late Brooks Soloman Reeder and Kathleen Annabelle (Nesbit) Reeder. In addition to his parents, Ike is preceded in death by his two siblings: Edward Brooks Reeder and Betty Jane Farence.
Ike’s survivors include his wife of 67 years, Helen “Nana” Julia (Murphy) Reeder; his two children: Mark “Buff” Lee Reeder and wife, Joan, of Mount Union and Patricia “Patty” Ann Durand and husband, Douglas, of Williamsport; his four grandchildren: Trista Lynn Fecteau; Mark Lee Reeder, II; Wilson James Douglas Durand; Brooks Charles Douglas Durand; his two great-grandchildren: Wyatt Tanner Fecteau and Ansley Elizabeth Reeder; and several nieces and nephews.
Ike’s family was always priority. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was immeasurable. When the topic of discussion was his family, he always felt he had bragging rights and practiced it regularly. Ike, an avid car enthusiast, was a lifelong member of the Antique Automobile Association of America. His passion and knowledge of antique cars was unsurpassable. He was also a member of the Eureka West Shore Masonic Lodge for which his was a Mason for over 60 years holding a 32nd degree title. He also actively participated with the Elks Club and the Kiwanis. Ike’s religious affiliation was with St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown, where he served as a Deacon for the church and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a man of deep faith and lived his life in service.
All are welcome to join Ike’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 10:15 a.m. until a Masonic service beginning at 10:45 a.m. and celebration of life service beginning at 11:00 a.m. all at St. John's Lutheran Church, 44 West Main Street, Shiremanstown, PA 17011; with Reverend Sarah M. Keilholtz officiating. Interment will follow the service in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Ike’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at 1:15 p.m. at the Patio at the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, 1000 West South Street, Carlisle, PA 17013. Cremation was private.
