Loved Spending Time with his Family -

Craig Allen Novinger, Sr., age 72, of Dillsburg, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill with his loving family by his side on Saturday, June 27, 2020.  Craig was born on Thursday, February 19, 1948, in Mechanicsburg to the late Richard Harold Novinger and Pauline Elizabeth (Stoner) Novinger.

Craig’s survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Ruth (Keeney) Novinger; his two children: Carrie Adra McAlicher and husband Jarrett of Manchester, Craig Allen Novinger, Jr. of Shippensburg; his two beloved grandchildren: Emily Jo Novinger and Benjamin Cole Novinger; his three siblings: Kevin Novinger and wife Camille Erice of Harrisburg,  David Novinger and wife Norma of Camp Hill, Wanda Hockenberry and husband Michael of Loysville; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved feline companions, Amber and K.K.

Craig graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1966.  He owned and operated Novco Supply Co., and later Novinger Enterprises, in Mechanicsburg.   Craig was a nearly 20-year member of Daybreak Church in Mechanicsburg.  He enjoyed being out in nature, had a passion for fishing, and anxiously awaited the opening day of deer season every year.  Craig’s artistic expression shone through both his painting and singing with Keystone Capital Chorus for many years and occasionally with a barbershop quartet.  Craig was an American history buff and was especially interested in the American Civil War.  At some point, Craig took over the cooking duties from Gwen which made her very happy. Craig was well known for his delicious barbecue and even built his own smoker.  Holidays were a special time for his family and they appreciated the large, delicious meals Craig prepared.  Above all, Craig cherished time spent with his family and loved them fiercely; and his family will miss Craig dearly.

All are welcome to join Craig’s family at his viewing on Thursday, July 2, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. and his service beginning at 1:30 p.m., all at Daybreak Church, 321 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Ronald O'Neil officiating. Please wear comfortable and casual clothing, as Craig would want.  Cremation was private.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks to all of the nurses and doctors who so lovingly cared for Craig during his illness.
