A Free Spirit –

Dale Eugene DeGroft, age 55, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home and surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 12, 2021.  Dale was born on Saturday, September 25, 1965, in Littlestown to JoAnn Elaine (O’Kul) DeGroft and the late Robert Junior DeGroft.  In addition to his father, Dale is preceded in death by his two brothers, Alan DeGroft and Tony DeGroft.

Dale’s survivors include his two children: Taylor Degroft of Mechanicsburg and Tyler DeGroft of Mifflintown; his mother, JoAnn DeGroft of McSherrystown; his companion, Wendy Simpson of Lebanon; his brother, Michael DeGroft of McSherrystown; two nieces and one nephew; and his beloved feline companion: Cosmo.

Dale was a loving, caring, and free soul. With an uncanny ability to make friends wherever he went, he would give you the shirt off his back and he never shied away from giving you his upfront opinion on anything. Whether you wanted that opinion or not.  A wild child at heart he was always making plans to go to the beach, or go to a friend's pool party/cookout. If he wasn't on the golf course, you could sometimes find him lifting with some buddies, or meeting up for some live music and drinks at his main stay, Flinchy's. On bright sunny days he could be seen out riding his Harley, or driving his bright orange Jeep. He was so full of life and energy, with an infectious smile and laugh that will never fade from our hearts. Please carry him with you in all your life adventures and endeavors, until we meet again.

Services with public gathering will be announced once scheduled.  Cremation was private.
