Donald Lee Atkinson
A Delightful Sense of Humor -
Donald “Don” Lee Atkinson, age 88, of Mechaniscburg, entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 14, 2021. Donald was born on Friday, January 13, 1933, in Harrisburg to the late Frederick M. Atkinson and Mildred Viola (Gutshall) Atkinson. In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by his brother and sister.
Don’s survivors include his wife, Beulah Janet (Jacobs) Atkinson; his two children: Donald “Don” Lee Atkinson, Jr. and wife, Alissa, of Camp Hill, JoAnn M. Bruno and husband, Frederick, of Dillsburg; his five grandchildren; and his three great-grandchildren.
Don proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked for Buick as a mechanic and service manager for 25 years and drove tractor trailer for Kuhn Transportation Company (KTC) for 11 years. Don was a longtime member of Mohler Dunkard Brethern Church in Mechanicsburg, where he served as a Sunday school teacher. When he was younger, Don loved to race motorcycles. He was always joking around and often delighted his family and friends with his sense of humor. Don was a selfless man and was always willing to help anyone with anything. His love of his family was evident and they will miss him greatly.
Don’s family will be remembering his life privately. Burial in Mohler’s Church Cemetery in Mechanicsburg will be at the family’s convenience.
