Dorothy “Dottie” Esther (Spacht) Jones, age 80, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2020.  Dottie was born on Thursday, April 18, 1940, in Water Street, PA to the late Ralph Emerson Spacht and Eva Adeline (Harpster) Spacht.  Dottie was the widow of Charles Albert Jones, whom she married on September 14, 1963, and who died on February 24, 1990.  In addition to her parents and husband, Dottie was preceded in death by her loving friend John “Jack” Venesky in 2009.

Dottie’s survivors include her two sons: Robert C. Jones and wife Dawn Eckart, their children: Gabrielle Rhiannon Jones, Isabella Rose Jones, Madelyn Rae Jones of Westampton NJ, and son Travis Watts and his children Travis Jr. and Gillian; David W. Jones and wife Theresa of Mesa, AZ; her brother Walter C. Spacht and wife Kay and their children: Todd and wife Kathy, Chris and Steve Weyer of Tyrone, PA.

Through the years, Dottie worked at Rite Aid, Red Barn restaurant, SCIC, United Methodist Home for Children in Mechanicsburg, and at the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot, where she retired after 20 years working as a secretary.  After retiring, Dottie worked with her longtime friend, Jack Venesky, delivering The Patriot-News in bulk to Carlisle and Williamsport/Lock Haven areas. Dottie was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Mechanicsburg.  In her leisure time, she liked to bowl and belonged to several card clubs.  Dottie loved to watch sports; baseball, football, golf, and NASCAR. Her favorite driver was #2, Rusty Wallace.

Dottie’s family will be remembering her life privately.  Interment in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill will be at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.

While Dottie’s family will not be accepting flowers, they invite those wishing to celebrate her life with a memorial contribution to make them to Messiah Endowment Fund, 100 Mt.
