Edward “Ed” Lee Kyle
To Know Ed Was to Love Him -
Edward Lee Kyle, also known as “Ed”, “Eddie”, “Dad”, and “Poppy”, age 86, of Mechanicsburg, passed away from COVID-19 at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore Hospital on Monday, July 13, 2020. Ed was born on Monday, February 19, 1934, in Mechanicsburg to the late Charles Ervin Kyle and Ella Mae (Beistline) Kyle. Ed was the widower of Joan Pauline (Harro) Kyle, whom he married on April 21, 1950, and who died on May 2, 1992. In addition to his parents and wife, Ed is preceded in death by his two sisters, Patricia “Pat” Kinsey and Shirley Kyle.
Ed’s survivors include his four children: Sally Jo Kalina of Mechanicsburg; Candice “Candi” Lynn Crowell and husband Steve of Mechanicsburg; Michael Edward Kyle and wife Becky of Omaha, Nebraska; Kelly Ann Reed and husband Britt of Mechanicsburg; his six grandchildren: Sierra Carter, Kylee Johnson, Codie Reed, Chase Reed, Madison Kyle, and Ryder Kyle; his three precious great-grandchildren: Maya, Brya and Taytum Carter; his two siblings: Charles “Chubb” Ervin Kyle, Jr. and wife Linda of Mt. Holly Springs, Peggy Lou Green and husband Bobby of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Ed retired from the United States Postal Service. Through the years, he also worked as a painter, a salesman, and anything he could do to provide for his family. He loved golf, baseball, and football; and watching his offspring compete in any sport brought Ed great joy. Ed also enjoyed his social time with his friends at the Mechanicsburg Club. He was an avid reader who was curious about everything, and his family delighted in listening to Ed’s stories and life experiences. His family will lovingly remember Ed as the most unselfish person they have ever known.
Ed’s immediate services will be private while family and friends are encouraged to remain safely at home. Interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life with family and friends will be announced once scheduled. Cremation was private.
