A Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother -

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Deavers) Wickard, age 93, of York, and formerly of York Haven, passed away at York Hospital on Wednesday, March 30, 2022.  Betty was born on Monday, March 11, 1929, in York to the late John Edward Deavers and Clara Mae (McGinness) Deavers.  Betty was the widow of Walter “Wick” Lynn Wickard, whom she married on June 27, 1948, and who died on July 12, 2012.  In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her four sons: Walter Lynn Wickard, Jr., James Lynn Wickard, James “Jim” Lehn Wickard, George “Lennie” Leonard Wickard; her granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Faught; and her three siblings, George Deavers, Leonard Deavers and Catherine “Kitty Lou” (Deavers) Billiar.

Betty’s survivors include her children: Bryan “Butch” Lynn Wickard and wife, Ruth, of York; Catherine “Cathy” Louisa Davenport and husband, Dennis, of York Haven; Paula Lee Faught and husband, Allen, of New Haven, KY; her eight grandchildren; her ten great-grandchildren;  her two great-great-granddaughters; her loving friend, Rita Stoner; her sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Deavers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty graduated from Mechanicsburg High School as part of the class of 1948.  In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, Betty was the manager for Fanny Farmer Candies and worked for Gerber Fabrics, both in Lemoyne.  In her later years, Betty worked at the East York Walmart until the age of 85.  She enjoyed going to her great grandchildren’s school functions and softball games. She loved meeting people and keeping in touch with her two best friends from school, Flossie and Doris.

Betty’s family will be celebrating her life privately.  Interment in Mechanicsburg Cemetery will be at the family’s convenience.  Cremation was private.
