Proud United States Air Force Veteran -

Glenn Bernard Garlick, age 91, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Everett, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021.  Glenn was born on Friday, December 19, 1930, in Everett to the late Blair Reynolds Garlick and Ruth Maria (Spade) Bricker.  Glenn was the widower of Joanne Elizabeth (Wenger) Garlick, whom he married on May 20, 1954, and who died on February 12, 1955 and of Joan Anita (Curtis) Garlick, whom he married on May 26, 1957 and who died on December 4, 2020.  In addition to his parents and wives, Glenn is preceded in death by his two sons: Baby Christopher Andrew Garlick and Mark Garlick; and his brother, Jerry Garlick.

Glenn’s survivors include his two sons: Jeffrey “Jeff” L. Garlick and wife, Lisa, of York, MSgt (Ret.) USAF Andrew “Drew” J. Garlick and wife, Tara Henderson, of Marion, OH; his two daughters-in-law: Terrie A. Burgess and husband, Jim, of Dillsburg, Toni Schell-Oium and husband, Randy, of Aurora, CO; his four grandchildren: Alainna Garlick and fiancé, Patrick Sharkey, TSgt USAF Adam Garlick, Joshua Garlick and wife, Stephanie, Paige Garlick and significant other, Dan Riopelle; his eight great-grandchildren: Emilia Garlick, Evelyn Garlick, Connor Stine, Galen Pahira, Jace Pahira, Kainalu Garlick, Ahonui Garlick, Imiola Garlick; his sister, Jean Trueax of NC; and several nieces and nephews.

Glenn graduated from Everett High School as part of the class of 1948.  He then joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served overseas in Morocco during the Korean War as an aircraft electrician.  Glenn retired from Amp, Inc. in Harrisburg, after 39 years of service as a display shop supervisor.  He used his skills to build the displays and traveled all over to set up and take them down.  Glenn was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Carlisle, where he served as a deacon and helped with the Boys’ Brigade program.  He was a life member of the 91st Strategic Reconnaissance Wing Association.  Glenn’s love of making things started at an early age as he grew up building barns with his father and grandfather.  It wasn’t long before he discovered his skill in woodworking.  Glenn would say that he was a cabinetmaker by trade.  Among some of what he made was both grandfather and grandmother clocks.  Glenn also enjoyed writing.  He penned a memoir about his life and even contributed a chapter to a book about his unit during the time he served in the Air Force.  Some of Glenn’s other interests included birds and family genealogy, a topic he was always researching.  He also enjoyed traveling and was able to do so all over the world with his late wife, Joan.  The couple visited all 50 states and many countries overseas together.  Glenn will be remembered for his sense of humor and good storytelling.

All are welcome to join Glenn’s family at his gathering of family and friends on Monday, January 10, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Pastor Simon O’Mahony officiating.  A virtual gathering and service via video chat or telephone will begin at 11:30 a.m.  Glenn’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of our parking lots.  Burial will follow the reception in Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill, where military honors will be presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.  Honored to be pallbearers are James Burgess, Adam Garlick, Andrew Garlick, Jeffrey Garlick, and Stuart Trueax.
