Obituary

Harry William Tavernia, Jr.

Harry W. Tavernia, Jr., age 42 of Mechanicsburg, PA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 30, 2021.  He was born April 11, 1978, in Media, PA and lived in Pennsylvania his entire life, except for a short period in Tucson, Arizona.

Harry attended St. Andrews in Drexel Hill and Cumberland Valley High School.  Harry worked at Specialty Bakery for many years as a forklift operator and truck driver.  Harry loved to go fishing and continued fishing adventures with his children including taking his mother out on the lake in a boat.  Even on family vacations, he managed to carve out time for fishing.  He was an avid EAGLES and Penn State fan!  You could always find Harry watching college and pro football games on the weekends.  His most cherished moments were spent with the love of his family and sharing in holiday and family traditions; especially summers in Ocean City, NJ and his birthday tradition of feasting at Red Lobster.  Harry also had a passion for music.  His love of Bob Marley, The Eagles, and Eric Clapton inspired him to learn to play the guitar at a young age.  He also loved having impromptu jam sessions with his brother-in-law over the years.

Harry is survived by his six children: Amanda, Brayden, Joshua, Christopher, Marlee and Sophia Tavernia; his mother Carol (Patrick) Connor of Mechanicsburg, PA; his father Harry (Helen) Tavernia of Swarthmore, PA; his siblings: Kelly (JT) McNeal of Mechanicsburg, PA; Patrick (Amy) Connor of Cranston, RI; his grandchildren: Grayson Stehman, Lucca Sowers, Seaura & Pomona Bissonnette; his nieces and nephew: Julia Locy, Allison Locy, Karlin McNeal, Haley Connor and Patrick Connor; his step-brothers and sister: Ben Danaher, Kate Mauer, Jesse Connor, Edward Connor; his step-father John (Loida) Danaher; and his beloved grandmother Teresa Tavernia.  He will be missed deeply and always be loved by his family, extended family and friends.

Harry is preceded in death by his grandfather Anthony Tavernia, his cherished aunt Emma Clark, his grandmother Emma Mullen, and his grandfather Elmer Mullen.
