Herman “Fritz” Francis Grissinger, 85, of Mechanicsburg died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Saturday, February 4, 2012. He was born in New Cumberland on Tuesday, January 25, 1927,  son of the late J. Floyd and Ruth I. (Humes) Grissinger.

He retired from the Borough of Lemoyne after 47 years of service. Herman loved Lionel model trains. He had a “Roadside America” layout in his home for many years. He collected “O” gauge Lionel trains and would have as many as four different trains going at one time. He also enjoyed helping his parents on their truck farm. He was a kind and loving man.

Herman’s survivors include his two loving sisters: Ruth I. Wonders and her husband Lester E. of Mechanicsburg; Edna M. Barrick of Carlisle and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding Herman in death are a twin brother Joseph F. Grissinger and a sister Bertha Krone.

All are welcome to join Herman’s family at his viewing on Thursday, February 9, 2012, from 10:00 until time of service at 11:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA, 17055, (717) 766-3421, www.Myers-Buhrig.com, with Pastor Dan Courtney officiating. Burial will immediately follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran (Stone Church) Cemetery, Enola.
