Loving Father, Grandfather, & Brother -

James Taylor Jones, age 72, of Shermans Dale, and formerly of Newport, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 22, 2021.  James was born on Saturday, October 2, 1948, in Dowagiac, MI to the late Wesley Jones and Catherine M. (Richardson) Jones.  In addition to his parents, James preceded in death by his four brothers: Ross Jones, Paul Jones, Lenus Jones, and Dick Benner.

James’s survivors include his two sons: James “Jim” T. Jones, II and wife, Tara, of Mechanicsburg, Christian “CJ” J. Jones and fiancée, Amanda, of Williamstown; his three grandchildren; his brother, John Jones of Texas; his sister, Edith Jones of New Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.

James graduated from Newport High School as part of the class of 1966.  He retired from the local union after over 20 years of service working as a carpenter.  James enjoyed getting out of the house and being social; he was most often found shooting pool.  Above all else, James never turned down an opportunity to spend time with his sons.  He loved his family and cherished the memories made with them.

James’s family will be remembering his life at a later date.  Cremation was private.
