Loving Son, Father, and Brother -

James John Murphy, age 36, of York, PA, was embraced by Jesus on Friday, August 5, 2016.  James was born on Monday, October 15, 1979 in New York City, NY to Fila (Lucovic) Murphy and the late James Alexander Murphy.  In addition to his father, James is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Alexandria Murphy.

James’s survivors include his mother, Fila Murphy of York, PA; his two sons: Mason Derbyshire of Maryland, Tyler Murphy of Hanover, PA; his partner, Serena Zehlius of Abbottstown, PA; his two sisters: Theresa Dedvukaj and her husband, Vasel, and their children, Lindon, Valbona, of Michigan, Susan Kiskis and her husband, Matthew, and their daughter, Vi, of Mechanicsburg, PA; and his life-long friend, Julia Derbyshire.

James graduated from Towson High School, where he enjoyed playing football.  He was very proud veteran; having served in the United States Army.  James loved people and had a deep respect for life.  He had a true and profound love for his sisters: Sue or “Shoe” and Theresa; his two sons; his niece, Vi; and his mother.  As a child, he was obsessed with collecting baseball cards and watching wrestling, especially the WWE.  James grew up to have an interest in Asian spiritual philosophy and was an avid reader.

All are welcome to join James’s family at his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Cathedral Parish of St. Patrick, 212 State Street, Harrisburg, PA 17101; with Reverend Joshua R. Brommer celebrating.  Burial will follow in Mechanicsburg Cemetery, with military honors being presented by the Cumberland County Honor Guard.  Honored to be pallbearers are: Mason Derbyshire, Matthew Kiskis, Vi Schap, Viktor Paljusaj, and Chava McCann.
