Jane Rebecca (Hess) Danley
Family was her priority -
Jane Rebecca (Hess) Danley, age 81, of Carlisle, and formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2022. Jane was born on Thursday, March 13, 1941, in Harrisburg to the late Hudson Rhodes Hess and Cathryn M. (Weiger) Hess. In addition to her parents, Jane is preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Hess, and her sister, Doris McCoy.
Jane’s survivors include her three sons: Ronald Lee Danley, Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Lon Travis Danley and wife, Tracey, of Mechanicsburg and Sheldon Miles Danley and wife, Lynsay, of New Oxford; her seven grandchildren; her 10 great-grandchildren; and her two nephews.
Jane graduated from Boiling Springs High School as part of the class of 1959. In 2004, she retired from Pennsylvania Hardwoods Association in Harrisburg, after many years of service working as an executive secretary. Jane was deeply religious and was a member of First Church of Christian Science in Carlisle. She was a great cook and enjoyed sports. In her spare time, Jane loved watching golf and ice skating; she was also an avid Hershey Bears fan. She was known to be selfless; family was her priority. On “Take Your Granddaughter to Work” Day, Jane enjoyed taking her granddaughter, Shelby, to work with her and spending quality time together. She always put her family first and loved them unconditionally. Jane will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Jane’s family will be remembering her life privately. Interment in Paxtang Cemetery in Harrisburg will be at the family’s convenience. Cremation was private.
