Jeffrey "Jeff" Dean Sanders, Sr.

Jeffrey “Jeff” Dean Sanders, Sr., age 73, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of Mifflintown, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, after a long battle with cancer.  Jeffrey was born on Tuesday, December 21, 1948, in Mifflintown to the late Marvin Leroy Sanders and Mary Elizabeth (Gingrich) Sanders.

Jeff’s survivors include his wife of 31 years, Linda Kay (Otto) Sanders; his two step children: Jay “Blair” Harvey, Jr. and his wife, Cecilia, of York New Salem; Brinda Kay Penyak and her husband, Mike, of Camp Hill; his grandson, Larry R. Penyak and his wife, Caroline; his great-grandson, Tegan Penyak; his brother, Tracy Lee Sanders and his wife, Mary T., of Mifflintown; his sister, Susan Page and her husband, Milton, of Mifflintown; his brother in-law, Creedin H. Otto, Jr. and his wife, Patti, of Mechanicsburg; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved feline companion, Sweetie.

Jeff graduated from the electrical trades program at Milton Hershey High School as part of the class of 1966.  He retired from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), after 55 years of service working as an electrician.  Jeff was a life member since 2003 of both the VFW Post 5863 in Mifflintown and VFW Post 6704 in Mechanicsburg.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 109 in Mechanicsburg for 48 years, Eureka – West Shore Lodge No. 302 F&AM, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 48 of Mechanicsburg and the Mechanicsburg Club.  Jeff followed NASCAR and dirt track racing, particularly the World of Outlaws, and attended races at Port Royal Speedway and Williams Grove Speedway.  He loved John Deere tractors and enjoyed watching sports on ESPN.  His favorite to watch was football; he was an avid Penn State football fan.  Jeff will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jeff’s family will be celebrating his life privately.  Cremation was private.
