John Everett Creighton

John E. Creighton, age 93, passed away Jan 22, 2021 in his home at Bethany Village, Mechanicsburg, Pa. from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

John grew up in Grove City in western Pennsylvania. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. And, then, attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture form Penn State University. Later, he returned to Penn State to complete a Master’s Degree. He worked as a County Agriculture Extension Agent in Fayette and Wayne Counties for 35 years. He was especially proud of the work he did with the 4-H youth program such as initiating a very successful 4-H livestock sale at the Wayne County Fair. Following retirement, he built a second career preparing taxes as an Enrolled Agent certified by the IRS. He loved to share produce from his large garden and orchard, as well as honey from his apiary. He was a lifelong learner and excelled at everything he did.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nadine (Snapp) Creighton, three children; John Everett Creighton III and wife, Sally, Dean Creighton and wife, Barbara, and Joan Miller and husband, Craig; his seven grandchildren; his five great-grandchildren; as well as, his four brothers and one sister and their spouses.

John was a member of the York Springs United Methodist Church and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the York Springs United Methodist Church, 840 Trolley Rd, York Springs, PA 17372.

John’s immediate services will be private while family and friends are encouraged to remain safely at home.  Services with public gathering will be announced once scheduled.  Cremation was private.
