John Douglas Lepore, Sr., 70, of Mechanicsburg , died at Holy Spirit Hospital on Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, on Wednesday, April 1, 1942, son of the late Margaret (Campagna) Lepore and Frank Lepore. John was the husband of Dale Lee (Bingham) Lepore whom he married on September 3, 1994.
John sold both residential and commercial real estate for Coldwell Banker and Remax . He served with the US Navy for 19 years, was a decorated Vietman War Veteran and a Seabee Engineer . John was a member of the Mechanicsburg Vietnam Veterans, Mechanicsburg VFW Post 6704 , Mechanicsburg American Legion Post 109 , Disabled Veterans , and Rolling Thunder Chapter 7. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Most of all John loved and adored his family.
John’s survivors include his loving wife and soul mate of 18 years, Dale; his children, John D. Lepore, Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Eric M. Lepore and wife Kailee of Shermans Dale, Diane Anderton and husband Michael of MD, David Madden of CA, Dennis Madden of MD; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Balsamo of Mechanicsburg, a brother Frank Lepore of CT, and several nieces and nephews. Among those preceding John in death is his brother, Thomas Lepore.
All are welcome to join John’s family at his viewing on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 5:00 until time of Military Honors at 7:00 with the VFW State Color Guard presenting, and on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, from 9:00 until time of service at 10:00 at Myers–Buhrig Funeral Home and Crematory , 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, with Reverend Dwight D. Edwards officiating.
Burial will follow in Tri-County Memorial Gardens in Lewisberry, where the Cumberland County Honor Guard will present military honors. John’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at VFW Post 6704 in Mechanicsburg following the burial. The family suggests memorial contributions to Vietnam Veterans of Mechanicsburg , 440 South York Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
