A Kind and Gentle Soul -

Karen Mae (Negley) Hamer, age 67, of Etters, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021.  Karen was born on Friday, April 24, 1953, in York to the late Grover Cleveland Negley, Jr. and Ethel Romaine (Ziegler) Negley.

Karen’s survivors include her husband of 50 years, Willard “Skip” Clark Hamer; her two sons: Michael Hamer of Etters, Heath Hamer and wife, Kelli, of New Cumberland; her two grandsons: Hunter and Koltin Hamer; her five siblings: Nancy Vogelsong, Ruth Divens, Jackie Negley, Greg Negley, Cheryl Strunge; and several nieces and nephews.

Karen attended Cumberland Valley High School in the 1960’s.  She loved the simple things in life.  From being a great wife and mother to cooking for her family and enjoying picnics with her relatives - all of which gave her tremendous joy.  Karen liked to babysit and would spend all her earnings on her children.  Her family and friends will miss her great big heart as well as her kind and gentle spirit.

All are welcome to join Karen’s family at her in-person gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:15 p.m. at Buhrig Funeral Home & Crematory, 37 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055; with Celebrant George A. Spangler officiating.  Karen’s family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship at Buhrig’s Gathering Place (next to the funeral home) immediately following the service.  Cremation was private.
